Rush at the BOK

Little Big Town is an American country music group that has country music fans inspired by their unique vocals and amazing performances. Founded in 1998, the Grammy Award-winning quartet has comprised the same four members since its inception: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet. They first entered the music scene more than 15 years ago with hits such as “Boondocks,” “Bring It On Home,” “Good As Gone” and “Little White Church.”

The BOK Center is proud to welcome Kenny Chesney on Thursday, May 14th.  The date for the start of ticket sales has not been announced.

With nearly two-dozen NFL-sized stadiums plays slated for this summer, Kenny Chesney took a good look at his remaining dates and thought about the show he was planning for this tour. Knowing each venue has individual needs – and scaling down from stadium- size, especially the amphitheaters, can remove some of the impact, he chose carefully.   “For all the time we had to create for The Big Revival Tour,” Chesney says, “I wanted to make sure the fans got to experience it. I love amphitheaters and all the fun... But I want to give the fans the same impact with the show, because The Big Revival Tour’s set up to be pretty special.”   Chesney’s non-stadium The Big Revival Tour shows will be played mostly in enclosed arenas. Not all the dates have been announced – in part due to seeking the best venues to streamline the production and not lose impact – but an almost complete tour schedule is attached. After a year off the road, Chesney is ready to get back to the fans, starting March 26 with a stop in Tulsa on May 14.

Country up-and-comer Brett Eldredge has always been drawn to singers, a fact that should come as no surprise to anyone who’s heard the Illinois native’s soulful, distinctive baritone. “I always gravitated towards big voices, because as a kid I had this big voice coming out of me,” says Eldredge. “I was hooked on the way that somebody could tell a story through the tone of their voice.” With a Country Music Association Awards’ nomination for “New Artist of the Year,” his single “Don’t Ya” climbing to No. 1 on the country charts, new single “Beat of the Music” most added at radio in its first week and debut album Bring You Back having just released on August 6 on Atlantic Records, Eldredge is finally getting the chance to share a story of his own. Ray Charles, Ronnie Dunn, and Frank Sinatra were the “big voices” that influenced Eldredge in his younger days. When his parents bought him a guitar and a small sound system, he didn’t immediately take to the instrument – “I never could sit still long enough to learn it,” he admits – but the sound system and its wireless microphone became a cornerstone of his early musical training. By age 15, Eldredge was a performer in demand for local functions. “I really grew to love the feel of the crowd,” he says.

There was no question that the passion for performance would carry him to Nashville, but Eldredge says his move to Music City after college made one thing clear: He was going to have to pick up that abandoned guitar. “I saw people on stage playing these songwriter nights, just them and a guitar,” he says. So Eldredge locked himself in a room to practice, and eventually started writing songs of his own. “It took me a while to finally get a hold of the guitar, but once I did I was hooked,” he says. “I think being a student of singers works to my advantage, because it taught me how to phrase things. I had melodies all over the place in my head.”He’s since moved on to writing with some of Nashville’s greats, including the legendary “Whispering” Bill Anderson, who taught him that one of the tricks to being a great songwriter is to “just keep writing,” Eldredge says. Two of the singles he’s released so far certainly prove his range, from 2010’s poignant “Raymond” to his No. 1 single “Don’t Ya,” an up-tempo flirtation that ponders the mystery of romantic relations, and showcases the sexy growl in Eldredge’s voice. His writing chops are also gaining recognition with the hit TV show “Nashville” using the Eldredge-penned song “Adios Old Friend,” country star Trace Adkins cutting his song “Watch the World End” (feat. Colbie Caillat) and the Country Music Association featuring him in their esteemed songwriters series in New York City. “You can create something from nothing,” is how Eldredge describes the joy of writing. “That’s the coolest thing in the world to me.”But it’s during his high-energy performances that Eldredge says he feels the most alive – as Taylor Swift fans discovered last spring when he opened 19 dates on the superstar’s The RED Tour. “Everything it takes to get to wherever I’m going to play – every airplane and car I ride in – is so worth it once I’m able to get up on that stage,” says Eldredge. “I want everybody in the crowd to feel the energy that I’m feeling from them.”And when Bring You Back hit stores in August, it was in many ways the culmination of a journey that started with a little kid, a big voice, and a story to tell – and in many ways, says Eldredge, it’s just the beginning: “This new music is me, and it’s taken every song I’ve written up to this point to get to where I am,” he explains. “I feel better about my music now than I ever have felt, and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”For more information about the show visit Cainsballroom.com

Music defines Chase Bryant. At every level and in often unexpected ways, his truths are expressed in melody, lyrics, hooks and sounds ... but his reality goes even deeper than that. Bryant's heritage is defined by music. His upbringing, his craft, his inspiration and his obsessions are all centered in the same - which is good - because there's no other way to explain how a 21-year-old Texan could already be a top-flight guitar player, head-turning songwriter, RED BOW recording artist and co-producer of his debut album.Bryant focuses his muse on the commonalities people share. "We all have a destination," he says. "We all have dreams we want to follow. I’m no different than anybody else, I just sing about it. It's my job to put the party on and give people a good reason to have fun." And that he does, whether it's in the soaring groove of "Summertime Saturday High," the sparkling "Fire,” unabashed romanticism of "Change Your Name” or the vocally-charged, guitar-shredding debut single “Take It On Back.”

Raised in Orange Grove, TX (pop. 1,200), Bryant's grandfather played piano in Roy Orbison’s first two bands and, later, for Waylon Jennings. His uncles co-founded the group Ricochet, which had several hits in the '90s. "From the time I was a kid, the only thing I wanted to do was play music," he says. "I was two or three years old and heard Jerry Lee Lewis’ 'Lewis Boogie' come on my grandfather’s record player. I remember hearing him say, 'My name is Jerry Lee Lewis and I’m from Louisiana' ... and I had an identity crisis! I thought I was Jerry Lee and would walk around saying that. In school, I was the odd kid. There were 20 guitars in town and I owned all of them."Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Tom Petty, Vince Gill, Bob Wills, Steve Wariner, Bryan Adams and more were early influences, but a confluence of releases brought him to a turning point. "Keith Urban's Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing and records by Sarah Buxton and Jedd Hughes did it," he says. "I knew I wanted to play mainstream country – I always knew. But those records told me that I could be that and still write guitar riffs that would stick in somebody’s head.""I never wanted to be anybody else," he says. "My grandfather always told me ‘you can't be good at being anybody else. You can only be good at being yourself.’ "Songwriting was an integral part of his development. "It goes back, of course, to getting my heart broken in school," he says. "Some girl broke up with me – I may have been 11 or 12, and I just wrote it down. I was never great at reading, but I liked words, phrases and sentences. The only way I knew to let people know me is through writing. I'd just look at my life, grab some paper and put it down."The other thing I'd do is have melodies playing in my head. Something would pop up and I'd just go, 'There it is.' " Encouraged by his parents, particularly his school-teacher mother, he graduated early and moved west. "All I wanted to do was play music and Los Angeles was my first attempt," Bryant says. "Somebody asked me to go out there and write for this little company and I took the first flight. The dream was that simple, but you can't stop before the miracle happens. You have to keep going. And I feel like it was a miracle just making it out of Orange Grove. I loved L.A., but Nashville is where I wanted to come. I probably wrote 400 lousy songs before I wrote my first good one. But one good one was enough to get Nashville managers, pluggers and publishers on board."Because of his Roy Orbison connection, someone suggested a meeting with Roy's widow, the late Barbara Orbison, a prominent Nashville publisher, who signed Bryant on the spot, making him her final signing before she passed. That road led Bryant to BBR Music Group imprint Red Bow Records, to which he signed in August 2013. During one early meeting, Founder Benny Brown, notoriously picky about working with producers, surprised Bryant. "He'd listen to my demos and say, 'Where did you cut that?' or 'Who produced that?' And I'd always say, 'In my closet. Cut it myself. Played it myself.' Benny trusted me enough to co-produce with Derek George (Randy Houser, Joe Nichols). He gave me the reins, which was something I always wanted."Brown's confidence was noteworthy if for no other reason than the fact that Bryant is completely self-taught as a producer. "There were no studios in Orange Grove," Bryant explains. "My parents took me to a Guitar Center and let me get what I needed. From there, I started building little tracks that I would listen to in the car and compare with what I heard on the radio. I taught myself how to make stuff sound bigger and better.”Despite being on the cusp of exceptional achievement for someone so young (having recently been named one of “The Best Things We Saw at CMA Music Fest 2014” by Rolling Stone) Bryant sees little difference between himself and the audience. "We're all fans," he says. "We're all friends. And the music is our connection. To me, it's a lifelong relationship and we'll all get where we're going together. That's the beauty of music. This is the first chapter of my book, and I think people will find it defines where they're at just as much as it defines where I'm at -- because we're the same – I'm just the guy with the guitar. If I wasn't, I'd be the guy on the front row with his arm around his girl raising a glass to the guy onstage. No question. It's just who I am. Music is everything."

38 Special at River Spirit Casino

After more than three decades together, 38 Special continue to deliver top-notch performances in more than 100 cities per year. The “Wild-Eyed Southern Boys” will perform live at the Event Center at River Spirit Friday, January 23 at 7 p.m.

Weeks before its Valentine’s Day release on iTunes, the Josh Abbott Band’s “Touch” was already well on its way toward being one of the most talked-about songs in Texas music of 2012. Granted, the hot-streak momentum of Abbott’s career had a lot to do with that. In the wake of the breakout success of “Oh, Tonight” (which climbed to No. 44 on Billboard’s country chart) and the title track from 2010’s regional smash “She’s Like Texas,” created a stir that reached all the way to music executives in Nashville and New York City. That set up pretty much any track that the 31-year-old singer-songwriter picked to be the lead single from his band’s much-anticipated third album nicely, ensuring it was bound to garner a fair amount of attention. But from the very first time it was played in concert or over the airwaves, it was clear that “Touch” had a lot more going for it than just good timing. From the erotic tension and release of its slow-burning verses and soaring chorus to the dramatic crescendo of fiddle and guitars at the outro, it’s a song that captures every ounce of the passion, talent, and vision that’s propelled the Josh Abbott Band to the forefront of the Texas music scene in record time. And as the rest of Small Town Family Dream proves convincingly, they’re here to stay.

 “My main objective for this album was for it to be cohesive,” says Abbott. “I think at least half of the songs on our first album [2009’s Scapegoat] were really good, but it wasn’t our best effort. But we really hit a home run with She’s Like Texas in terms of creating a big fan base and a little bit of radio success and even a bit more national success than I thought we were maybe ready for or even going for at the time. So when we went to record this one, I thought, ‘I don’t know that we’ll have another song go national like ‘Oh, Tonight,’ but I do want it to keep the consistency of the last album.’ But at the same time, we tried to take it in a different direction, too.”

Elvis Costello has announced thirteen new "Solo" North American tour dates, dubbed "Detour" which will travel through the Mid-West and Southern U.S., after commencing on March 1st in Boulder, Colorado and concludes in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on March 18th.

These have been some of the most adventurous and lauded performances of his career.  

The Louisville Courier-Journal remarked that these solo tours "have given him opportunity to dig deep into one of modern music's deepest and most intensely satisfying catalogs.”

The New York Times said of his first ever appearance at Carnegie Hall in June 2014, “Costello offered something else: a continuing, challenging, intimate engagement with his songs, old and new.”

A short time later The Argus said of his Bexhill-On-Sea show, “Costello drew upon his astonishing catalogue of classics. The results were electrifying.” His recent five-week solo tour of Europe, took Costello from the legendary l’Olympia in Paris to his Hungarian debut at the Bela Bartok National Concert Hall in Budapest.

He was said to have “enchanted” his Viennese audience, unsurprisingly as one of his German reviews referred to him as “a necromancer and a right geezer”.

The Gaffa newspaper in Denmark noted, “Costello can easily entertain a room for two and a half hours with no instruments other than voice, guitar, piano, lights and a handful of anecdotes”

A review from Dublin claimed, “Vocally, he is as good as he has been in years”, an opinion shared by the Sydsvenskan which wrote of his Malmo appearance, “He sang superbly through the evening: from whispers to soul-tinted falsetto.”

The Globe and Mail described his last show at Massey Hall, Toronto as "Simply brilliant", his Atlanta date was declared, "Pure entertainment with a side of brilliance" by AXS
