July 19-21st - Porter Peach Festival

Porter, OK is celebrating its 46th Peach Festival on July 19-21st, 2012.  Activities abound throughout the weekend, kicking off with a Peach Pageant and live music on Thursday evening.  Friday includes street games, dessert contest, pet show, antique tractor pull and live music. Saturday’s festivities start with a 5k run, parade, car show, karaoke, and an peach auction.  At 1:00 pm on Saturday, free peaches and ice cream will be given away while supplies last.  Food vendors, arts and crafts, and a small carnival will be present throughout the weekend and a trolley will be available to carry visitors to the events from the parking lots.

Organized by the Porter Lion’s Club, this annual event makes a huge economic impact on the community.  The proceeds from the festival usually fund scholarships, local charities and events, supplying eyeglasses, etc., but this year the Club’s plans include repairs and maintenance to Lion’s Park.  The park needs a walking track, new playground equipment, more tables, and a new gazebo.  The Festival planners expect an attendance of 15,000 this year.
