TULSA, Okla. —

Quick Facts:

  • Meals on Wheels is collecting fans for Tulsa clients.
  • Drivers and volunteers noticed many clients living in tough conditions with the summer heat.
  • Fans can be brought to the east Tulsa Meals on Wheels location at 12620 E. 31st Street.

The Tulsa-area Meals on Wheel program is collecting fans, for the first time ever, to distribute to clients across the city without access to adequate air conditioning.

Meals on Wheels spokesperson Ginger Hull told FOX23 that the drive started when volunteers and delivery drivers noticed tough living conditions for many clients during the summer heat.

One resident, Linda Moncrief, said it got so hot in her house that her oxygen bottle warmed up and created more problems for her.

She said she views Meals on Wheels as family and called her new fan a blessing.

Meals on Wheels will collect fans through the end of August. Those looking to donate can bring a fan to the east Tulsa location at 12620 E. 31st Street.
