Bacon poses same cancer risk as cigarettes, world health group claims

A World Health Organization (WHO) agency issued a warning Monday linking bacon and other processed meats to a cancer risk as high as that posed by cigarettes.
WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) released its findings in Monday’s edition of The Lancet Oncology , according to the reports.
Even before the report was released, a spokesperson for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association said there’s no scientific data to show a causal link between cancer and meat.
