Eastbound US-412 narrowed to two lanes after truck hit highway sign

TULSA, Okla. — UPDATE 2 p.m.: ODOT said two eastbound lanes are open on Highway 412, while the right lane remains closed for clean up.


The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) said all eastbound lanes of Highway 412 are closed at 49th West Avenue in Sand Springs.

ODOT said a construction truck hit a monotube structure which caused it to collapse. A monotube is the metal pole over the highway that holds road signs.

Tulsa police said around 11:45 a.m. a dump truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 412 with the back loader raised up, that hit the traffic sign that going across Highway 412.

The only impact to was to the dump truck. No other cars were affected.

Traffic is backed up all through Sand Springs. Authorities are working to divert traffic in all directions.

ODOT said drivers should avoid the area and find an alternate route.
