Jenks church building damaged in morning fire, hub for Boy Scout troop

JENKS, Okla. — A fire broke out at a Jenks church activity building Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to First Jenks United Methodist Church near 5th and Main just before 8:30 a.m.

The Tulsa Fire Department was also called to assist.

Church staff said the building has been used by a local Boy Scout troop for years and this will be difficult news for the troop to hear.

Jenks Fire Chief Greg Ostrum said fire was found in the floor furnace area. Crews spent several hours ripping up the floor to make sure all flames were out.

Chief Ostrum told FOX23 no one was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
