Jenks Mask Mandate expires

The city council was set to vote on expanding the mandate last week, but the meeting was canceled

JENKS, Okla. — The City of Jenks’ mask mandate expired Sunday night after a special meeting to discuss the mandate was canceled last week due to health and safety concerns.

The Jenks City Council planned on holding a special meeting last Wednesday at The Hive to discuss mask mandate renewal.

Before the meeting could go on as planned, however, police learned many who planned on attending the meeting planned on doing so without wearing a mask. Jenks officers were concerned over the health and safety of those attending, so the meeting was canceled.

City Council voted in November to pass a mask ordinance.

Jenks was the first Tulsa suburb to join in on a mask-wearing mandate and was largely modeled off of Tulsa’s mask ordinance instituted in July of last year.

The next scheduled city council meeting is set for Tuesday. However, discussing a mandate is not on the agenda.
