UPDATE: Broken Arrow Public Schools extended the time students will be in distance learning Friday.
Now, the district will remain in distance learning through Jan. 21, with students returning to in-person classes Jan. 24.
Broken Arrow Public Schools announced Thursday that the district will transition all sites to distance learning starting Friday, January 14th.
The district said all students in Pre-K through 12th grade will return to school on Tuesday, January 18th after Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The district said as of Thursday, 441 employees were absent due to illness and other reasons, 97 subs were needed, but only 42 were found.
School leaders said the staffing problems are causing ‘extreme hardships’ on every school site.
All Level 2 and 3 special education students will report to class in person unless communicated otherwise. In-person tutoring is available at each site by contacting your school. All extracurricular activities, practices and athletics will continue as regularly scheduled.
Child Nutrition will continue to provide lunches at the school sites from noon to 1 p.m.
