Standing on the stars and stripes is something that's raising eyes right now in Foxboro, Mass. A photo of a girl standing on what appears to be an American flag and was supposed to be used in her school's yearbook has gone viral.

The photo is not going into the yearbook, as some disliked the image. The photo that appeared to be patriotic to some has others calling it disrespectful, but Morgan Truax's mom disagrees.

"The photo is very tastefully done and very patriotic," she said.

Foxboro High Senior Morgan Truax had that picture taken so her boss could recognize her hard work at the Red Wing Diner and at her school.

Owner of the diner, Liam Murphy, said, "I wanted to honor Morgan in the yearbook and we took out a page to say congrats for all the hard work."

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and this one went viral on Facebook. People liked and disliked it.

Her school believed it was disrespectful. They sent a statement to MyFoxBoston that read in part: "The photo showed the United States flag hanging on a wall with the lower portion lying on the floor and the student standing on the flag. We do not view standing on the US Flag as respectful or appropriate."

Some say we're all missing the "big picture" because what is in the photo is not even a flag, simply a backdrop.

Still, Truax and her mom offered to crop the photo so no one would be offended.

"I understand and I agreed to crop my feet out of the picture even though it's a photo backdrop," Truax said.

However, they still haven't heard back from the school to see if the cropped photo will be allowed in.
