Oklahomans are hitting the supermarkets for last-minute Thanksgiving shopping

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Oklahomans are getting all their turkeys in a row in time for this Thanksgiving.

FOX23 visited a grocery store in Claremore where shoppers were weaving baskets through the aisles trying to grab those last minute trimmings.

Shopper Gina Keith said her holiday meal preparation is always last minute, but the store has not been too busy.

“I haven’t had any issues,” Keith said. “I’ve got everything I need.”

She then said she needed to get the ham home so her husband could smoke it for their holiday dinner on Thursday.

Holiday ham was a popular dish this season because another shopper, Kenneth Payne, said he had to run to the store because he had no pineapple slices for his.

“I also remembered that I needed some extra crescent rolls to make my apple crumble,” Payne said.

Payne said he was surprised by how many people were out on Wednesday picking up items.

“There’s more out today than I thought there would be but it wasn’t too busy,” Payne said. “They got plenty of help here today, too, for us last-minute shoppers.”
