Christopher Pollock, 45, of Brandenburg, was charged with murder-domestic violence, resisting arrest, assault of an officer, wanton endangerment and cruelty to animals in the second degree, according to Meade County Detention Center online records.

Authorities received a call at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, WLKY reported.

“A 10-year-old was on the telephone saying that his stepmother and stepmother’s dog had been shot,” Brandenburg police Chief Brian Haag told the television station.

Police surrounded the home, according to an arrest report. Moments later, the boy exited the home onto the front porch, followed by Pollock, WDRB reported.

Officers said Pollock admitted to the shootings, but when they attempted to make an arrest he allegedly reached for a gun on his hip.

According to the arrest report, officers tried to tackle Pollock but were resisted, with one deputy being kicked in the face, WAVE reported.

As this was happening, other deputies were tending to the boy. It is unknown whether the child witnessed the shootings, WLKY reported.

“I’d say he probably was scared; he didn’t know what was going on,” Haag told the television station. “Once we get the pieces of the puzzle put together, we’ll have a better explanation of possibly why this occurred.”

Pollock is currently being held in the Meade County Detention Center, WDRB reported.
