DAUPHIN, Pa. — A Pennsylvania town surprised a beloved UPS delivery driver with a thank you party for his efforts working 70 hours a week throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Jenny Shickley planned the party for driver Chad Turns with the help from the local UPS office and dispatch, WJW reported.
Chad Turns thought he was picking up an on-demand delivery at a fire station. Instead, he was greeted by a cheering crowd who raised about $1,000 for him.
“Thank you, Chad!” the crowd yelled as Turns pulled up.
“Well, thank you. Oh my God,” he said. “I don’t know what to say now. You got me choked up.”
Turns is known for his thoughtfulness during his deliveries. One time, he waited to deliver an unwrapped toy so Shickley’s children would not see it and ruin the surprise. He also brings treats for the dogs along his route.
“We just think his caring and compassionate attitude is something we wanted to reward,” Shickley said. “He’s one in a million.”
