SAN MARCOS, Texas — Investigators in Texas believe a father fatally shot his two young daughters before killing himself last month in Hays County.

According to the Hays County Free Press and KSAT, the suspected murder-suicide occurred Aug. 27 outside a home off Boulder Bluff in San Marcos. Hays County deputies responded after the girls' mother called 911 to say Kyle Brandon Grieb, 30, had taken their daughters, Amyah Engleman, 2, and Caraline Engleman, 6 months. Although Grieb was the girls' father, he did not have custody of them, the Free Press reported.

The bodies of Grieb and the girls were later discovered outside, according to the news outlets. All three had “obvious gunshot wounds,” KSAT reported, citing an affidavit.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started for the girls' mother and her two surviving children.
