A recent Michigan Court of Appeals decision affirmed a lower court’s decision in favor of Old Shillelagh, a decades-old Irish pub in Detroit’s Greektown, MLive.com reported.

Connie Nagel sued the bar after she said she was injured on Aug. 22, 2018. She claimed in court documents that she witnessed several other patrons slip on spilled drinks and that the lemon she claimed caused her fall remained on the floor long after she took her spill. She also blamed the bar’s poor lighting for obscuring her view of the offending citrus prior to her fall, the news outlet reported.

The appeals court ruled, however, that Nagel failed to prove that Old Shillelagh staff knew that the lemon had created a dangerous condition.
