Webster High School could be added to National Register of Historic Places

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Public Schools says they are super excited about the news that Tulsa’s Webster High School could be added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

The Tulsa Preservation Commission voted to recommend the listing to the Mayor’s Office on Tuesday.

Webster was started in 1938 and built as a depression recovery project by the government. The art deco design carried through to the stadium that was built in 1941.

Webster was nominated because of that design, and Webster’s status as the first school in Tulsa to adopt integration in 1955.
