Members of the humane society who responded had to slowly chisel the wall away around Buddy to free him, and then he was taken to Arizona Humane Society’s trauma hospital for minor wounds and swelling on his head and neck, KSAZ reported.

The Arizona Humane Society posted a video of the rescue to its YouTube page, showing a technician carefully helping Buddy out of the wall. Once he was freed, the video showed Buddy happily wagging his tail when he was reunited with his family.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control was able to find Buddy’s owner using a map they had created, KNXV reported. The owner told authorities they had no idea how the dog wound up in the wall, the station reported.
